Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
Last week was my first time participating in the bout of books read-a-thon, in which I didn’t do as well as I expected I would. But looking back, I think my goals were a little unrealistic, because I planned on reading 3 books in a week, while I usually only read 1 book a week. And I new this week I would have to do a lot of uni work this week as well, so my goals were a little too enthusiastic. However, I read 2 books this week which is actually twice as much as I usually read, so in that aspect you might say that this read-a-thon was a success. I started this read-a-thon with Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, which took me about 5 days to read since I was so busy. However, I did really like this book and I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I will write a full review of this book soon! The other book that I read was This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. It was my second Sarah Dessen book, because I have read The Truth About Forever about a year ago, and I really loved it. However, I didn’t like This Lullaby as much as The Truth About Forever. My main problem with this book was that I found it really hard to identify with Remy, the protagonist. She is very bitter and doesn’t believe in love at all, and I am a sucker for love so I find it hard to identify with her. But besides from that, the story was really cute and I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. A full review will be up soon!
What books did you read last week?
So, as I already let you know a few days ago, I will be participating in the Bout of Books read-a-thon which will take place from Monday, May 12th until Sunday, May 18th. I said that I didn’t have a specific TBR for this read-a-thon, but that I wanted to read for at least one hour a day. I still want to read at least one hour each day, and maybe even more if my schedule allows it. But on top of that, I changed my plans and I made a TBR list for the coming week! I have no idea how much I’ll be able to read since I have several papers due at the end of next week. But I plan on being extremely anti-social next week and get as much reading done as possible. I think that finishing the book that I am currently reading, plus reading 3 more books might be doable for me. I know I don’t usually read this much, but I have never dedicated myself to reading this much either. So we’ll just have to see and I’ll let you guys know how it went in a wrap up! But first, my TBR list:
“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. “– From the Bout of Books team
Yay, a read-a-thon! I’ve heard many things about the Bout of Books read-a-thon, but I have never participated in one myself. And although this time might not be perfect timing for me, I really want to participate because I want to experience the fun of a read-a-thon myself! I have heard many great things about read-a-thons and others make it sounds like so much fun, so I can’t wait! The week of this read-a-thon will be a really crazy week for me in college with a lot of deadlines for assignments, but I hope I can finish a lot of my college work in the weekend and read my books during the week. But because I know this is going to be a busy week and it is my first read-a-thon, I am not going to set myself any large goals. My goal for this read-a-thon is to read at least one hour a day, and more if I have the time. I don’t know which books I want to read yet, because I always read what I feel like at that particular moment. But some books that are really high on my TBR list are Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins, Paper Towns by John Green and Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows by J.K. Rowling. But I’ll tell you what I’ve actually read in a wrap up after the read-a-thon! If you want to follow my progress during the week, you can follow my twitter account on which I’ll probably be updating about my reading. You can also add me on Goodreads to see what I’m doing during the read-a-thon.

I think I have mentioned it before, but this Sunday I will participate in a 24 Hour Read-a-Thon. It will be hosted by Brianna, and you can read about the details in her blog post and you can sign up here. I am not sure if I will be able to read for a full 24 hours, but I’ll try. And today I will be showing you the books that I will be reading during this read-a-thon. I am not sure if I will be able to read all five, but I am just going to show five because that’s what I do at Friday’s Five. (; We’ll see how many I’ll be able to read in 24 hours. Continue reading
